The half Chandra on the goddess Chandraghanta's forehead is where she acquired her name. Goddess Durga started dressing in the half Chandra once she wed Lord Shiva. Durga's married form is also represented by Chandraghanta Mata. Trishul, Gada, Sword, and Kamandal are carried by Chandraghanta Mata in her four left hands. Lotus Flower, Arrow, Dhanush, and Japa Mala are carried in her four right hands. Her fifth right hand is in the Abhaya mudra position, and her fifth left hand is in the Varada mudra.
