Significance of Lakshmi puja 2024

Goddess Lakshmi is a representation of wealth and success. She is revered in the Hindu religion for her accomplishments, wealth, and blissful characteristics. Hindus think she eases people's problems so they can advance spiritually.

Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh are worshipped together on Deepavali or Diwali to symbolize luck and wisdom. Lord Ganesh is revered as the vanquisher of evil forces and impediments. He is the deity of learning and education who blesses achievement and wisdom upon his followers.

In order to satisfy Goddess Lakshmi, Diwali puja is performed. People do Lakshmi puja on the auspicious day of Diwali because wealth is a crucial component of advancement and upkeep in our life. Money is not the definition of wealth in this context. It entails pursuing a wealth of abilities, talents, and good karma.

In addition, worshipping Goddess Lakshmi helps one achieve life's ultimate aim. The Goddess, also known as AdiLakshmi, connects us to the sources and blesses us with peace and power.

Diwali Puja should ideally be performed at the Pradosh Kaal, which starts after sunset. The approximate duration of the Pradosh Kaal is two hours and twenty-four minutes. For Diwali or Lakshmi Puja, this Kaal's reign of Sthir (Fixed or immovable) Lagna is the ideal moment. It denotes that if you perform the Diwali puja during Sthir Lagna, Goddess Lakshmi will reside in your home.

Diwali Puja 2024 Vidhi and Rituals

On the auspicious day of Diwali puja, Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi are worshipped. The Puranas claim that after descending, Goddess Lakshmi visits every home on Earth. In order to please the goddess and win her favor, the house must be well-cleaned and lit during this time. The following rites should be observed during celebrating Diwali puja:

  1. If you perform Diwali puja, cleaning is essential for the festival. You must scrub your house thoroughly and sprinkle Gangajal (holy water from the Ganges River). Additionally, candles, Rangoli, and clay lamps can be used to beautify the home.
  1. In your living room or puja room, spread a crimson cotton cloth on a table or stool. Put a few grains in the platform's center.
  1. Position the silver or bronze Kalash in the center of the grains and fill it with 75% water. Add a penny, a marigold flower, a supari (betel nut), and some rice grains to the Kalash. On the Kalash, arrange five mango leaves in a circle.
  1. Position the image of Goddess Lakshmi in the middle and the statue or photograph of Lord Ganesha on the right side of the Kalash, facing southwest. Create a tiny, flat mountain of rice on a tiny thali, decorate it with haldi to resemble a lotus flower, add some money, and place it in front of the idol.
  2. Set your accounting manual and other items associated with money and commerce in front of the idol.
  1. In front of the deity statues, apply tilak, offer flowers, and light a Diya.
  1. To pray, close your eyes and recite the puja Mantra while holding a flower in your palm.
  1. As you repeat the Diwali puja mantra, join your hands in a prayer position. After you've prayed, give the flower you're holding to Ganesha and Lakshmi.
  1. Offer a Lakshmi idol panchamrita by giving it a bath in water. Put it back with the Kalash after giving it a second water wash and cleaning it with a clean cloth.
  1. Present food, kumkum, haldi, and a garland to the deity. In front of the idol, dhoop and burn incense sticks.
  1. Present the deity with a coconut, supari, and paan leaf. Give the goddess fruits and sweets, and set a bouquet and some cash in front of the idol.
  2. Light a Diya in a thali, do the Lakshmi aarti, and sound the puja bell. You can now participate in Holi activities like giving away and sharing food, treats, and prasad.
