Satyanarayan Puja Tithi

Satyanarayan Puja is performed to seek the blessings of Lord Narayana. Lord Narayana is considered to be the most worshipped incarnation of Lord Vishnu. This puja is performed on Purnima or Full Moon night. It is also believed that organising Satyanarayan Katha during the Puja is beneficial for the devotees.

Satyanarayan Puja can be performed during the morning as well as evening. However, the one performed during the evening is more beneficial for devotees.

Satyanarayan Puja Vidhi And Rituals

There are some set rituals that one should follow while performing the Satyanarayan Puja. This will ensure the maximum benefit to the devotees.

Here are the rituals and vidhi you should follow while performing Satyanarayan Puja:

  • Panchamrutham, a mixture of honey, milk, sugar, yogurt and ghee, is prepared and used to purify Shaligram, Lord Vishnu’s divine stone.
  • Panjiri is prepared for Prasad or bhog, which is made with wheat flour and sugar. Sacred Tulsi leaves are added to the Prasad and fruits are also offered.
  • Reciting the Satyanarayan Katha or story during the puja is also considered beneficial. It tells the anecdote behind the incarnation and how this Puja can be beneficial to the devotees.
  • The Puja is concluded with the Satyanarayan Aarti in front of the deity’s picture or idol. It is done by lighting a small piece of Kapoor or camphor.
  • Devotees performing the Puja or the ones observing fast then take the prasad or Panchamrutham to break their fast.
