There is a belief that Ekadashi (Utpanna Ekadashi) is a fasting ritual intended to purify the body and revitalize the mind. Ekadashi is a significant day in India for individuals who stick to rituals and practice serious worship. Usually, the fast lasts from sunrise on the day of Ekadashi to the following day. The moon's position affects the timing of Ekadashi. India's lunar calendar divides the moon into 15 equal crescents, with each new moon occurring after a full moon. Every crescent has its own Tithi. Tithi is the amount of time it takes the Moon to travel across a specific portion of a lunar day. Ekadashi occurs on the eleventh day. On Ekadashi, the moon is visible roughly 75% of the time during the bright side of the lunar month; during the dark side, this percentage is reversed.
A calendar year has twenty-four Ekadashi in total. Sometimes Utpanna Ekadashi is referred to as Utpati Ekadashi. During Krishna Paksha, it occurs on the 11th day of the month of Margashirsha. After Kartik Purnima, this is the initial Ekadashi to begin. But how did Ekadashi start? Let us answer your question with a story. Before that, let us know the date and time.

Utpanna Ekadashi Significance (Utpanna Ekadashi Vrat Katha)
The story of Utpanna Ekadashi tells Maa Ekadashi's birth and her role in saving Lord Vishnu from an evil demon. There was a demonic being called Mura in Satyuga. By knocking out the deity Indra and his gems, he took control of heaven. Following this, every god turned to God Shiva for assistance. Lord Shiva advised them to go to Lord Vishnu and ask for his assistance. After learning everything from the gods, Lord Vishnu decided to remove Murasura's evil dominion. It was then that God Vishnu and Murasura went to war. Ten years passed during this war. Only Murasura remained alive, while the other monsters were all slaughtered. On the battlefield, Murasura was impossible to kill or overcome.
Lord Vishnu left for Badrikashram, exhausted from the conflict. Hemvati is the name of the cave where he slept in Yoga Nidra. The demon attacked Vishnu after arriving at Hemvati. At that moment, Lord Vishnu's body gave birth to a fortunate woman with a positive aura. He murdered Murasura after challenging him to a battle. Lord Vishnu was glad to discover Murasura dead when he came out of his meditation. Lord Vishnu was pleased with this and gave her the name Utpanna Ekadashi, declaring that people would idolize her.
Hindu astrology tells us the great importance of Utpanna Ekadashi. It is thought that individuals who keep the fast with good intentions and a pure mind get rid of their previous mistakes. Furthermore, it is also thought that those who wish to fast on Ekadashi should begin on Utpanna Ekadashi.
