Rahukalam - The Kaal of Rahu

Before we study the Monday Rahukalam, let us know what Rahukalam is. In astrology, all the related seven planets, namely the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, are associated with a particular day of the week. Nevertheless, this is not the case with the nodal planets Ketu and Rahu, as no specific day is allocated to them. However, they hold the power to rule every day for one and a half hours, termed as Rahu Kalam & Yamagandam.

Considering Monday, Rahu is in full power during Monday Rahu kaal timings and can create disappointments and hardships unless it has a benefic planet in the horoscope. Individuals should avoid the period of Monday Rahukalam timings, as mentioned in the table, for partaking in any auspicious activities and events, as conducting holy events and starting new ventures is not considered safe at this time.

The Monday Rahukalam timings are 7:30 am to 9:00 am.

Yamagandam - The Time of Yama

As the name says, this period of the day is related to the son of the planet Sun, Yama or Yamraj. We know well that Yamraj is the one responsible for taking the Soul or Atma of the dead person to a deserving place. Hence, the rituals or ceremonies related to death are conducted only during the Yamagandam on Monday. Individuals should make sure they do not hold any money-related transactions or engage in travel during this time.

Moreover, if on a Monday, during Yamagandam, any activities are carried out or initiated, they do not give a great outcome.

The timings of Yamagandam are figured out by dividing the hours of the day into eight parts. Thus, the duration of each of the parts comes out to be roughly one and a half hours.

The Monday Yamagandam timings are 10:30 am to noon.

Gulika Kaal - The Hour of the Gulikan

Talking of the Monday Gulika kaal, it occurs for one and a half hours depending upon the timings of Sunrise. This period of the Gulika Kaal is known as the hour of the Gulikan, i.e, the son of Shani (Saturn). The Monday Gulika Kaal should be avoided for conducting auspicious events and activities as it is governed by Saturn, which is generally not that favorable. It is also said that anything performed during the period of Gulika Kalam gets repeated, hence, it is mandatory to avoid any death-related rituals on Monday Gulika Kaal.

The Monday Gulika kaal timings are 1:30 pm to 3 pm.

Monday Rahukalam, Yamagandam & Gulika Kaal

The first day of the week, Monday, is associated with the planet Moon, or say, Chandra Deva. Hence, before we organize or plan an auspicious event or new venture, it is important to check the Gulika Kaal, Rahu Kalam, and Yamagandam on Monday. Conducting any activity during this time can be unfavorable, harmful, and even lead to losses. Therefore, individuals looking for success and favorable outcomes should refrain from performing anything new at this time.

To know the exact details of the Monday Rahukalam timings, as per the Sunrise on the particular date, individuals can check it by referring to the Choghadia or Panchang. Remember, Shubh, Labh, Amrit, and Char are considered to be the auspicious timings, while Kaal, Udveg, and Rog are deemed the inauspicious part of the day.

Remedies for Gulika Kaal, Rahu Kalam, and Yamagandam on Mondays

To perform any auspicious tasks, Monday Rahukalam, Yamagandam, and Gulika Kaal timings should strictly be a 'No No.' Routine activities, however, can be carried throughout the day.

There might be times when situations arise to conduct any particular activity at a specific time, which might clash with the Monday Rahu kaal timings or the time of Yamagandam or Gulika Kalam. In such cases, you can pray to your Kuldevta and go ahead with carrying out the activity.

For the individuals who are not aware of the Kuldev can chant Ganesh Mantras or Hanuman Chalisa, as these deities have unique powers known as siddhis that can help to crush the unfavorable impacts of Rahu, Gulika or Yama. Moreover, as reciting these mantras can present courage to individuals, they can overpower any obstacles easily.

Further, one can offer jaggery or panchamrit to Lord Hanuman, which should be swallowed before the individuals begin the task.
